Cameron Ling, affectionately known as “Lingy,” is a name synonymous with leadership, resilience, and community spirit. A former Australian rules footballer and celebrated captain of the Geelong Football Club in the AFL, Lingy’s career on the field was marked by determination and success. His ability to lead by example earned him the respect and admiration of teammates and fans alike.
Since retiring from professional football, Cameron has become a familiar face on television screens across the country, bringing his expertise and passion for the game to audiences as a highly regarded AFL commentator with Channel 7.
Away from the spotlight, Cameron is a devoted husband and proud father to three young boys. Balancing family life with his professional commitments, he brings the same dedication and heart to his role as a dad that he displayed throughout his football career.
Cameron’s connection to River’s Gift goes beyond his public profile—he has been an active and passionate supporter of our mission to Stamp Out SIDS. His efforts include participating in the New York Marathon, running to raise awareness and funds for SIDS research and support. This incredible feat showcased not only Cameron’s physical endurance but also his deep commitment to the cause, inspiring many others to join the fight.
