FESTIVAL OF KIDS AUSSIE RULES (AFL) FOOTY RAISES MONEY FOR SIDS RESEARCH
State of Origin IV (SOOIV), between the Glebe Greyhounds and the Ocean Grove Cobras, is being hosted at Jubilee Oval on Sunday 3 July from 8 am.
After a two-year break due to COVID, the annual State of Origin in support of River’s Gift, Australia’s largest non-government SIDS research charity, is back.
250 kids, boys and girls, aged from 9 to 14 will play across seven games of footy, starting at 8 am on Sunday 3 July at Jubilee Oval in Glebe.
This is the biggest State of Origin between the clubs yet, with more than 100 families making the trip from Ocean Grove, near Geelong, to Sydney for a junior footy festival weekend.
In 2019, SOOIII raised near to $20K for Rivers Gift, and we’re striving to top that figure this time around!
River’s Gift was founded by Karl Waddell and Alex Hamilton, two devastated yet focused and determined parents, following the death of their baby boy, River, to SIDS at only 128 days of age in 2011. To date Rivers Gift has raised well over $1,700,000 to help find a preventative cure for SIDS, and they have a strong partnership with University of South Australia, in the establishment and continued development of a SIDS biobank, for the purpose of conducting genetic research. To learn more about River’s Gift and their pursuits in the world of SIDS research, see this link – http://riversgift.org/news/genetics-key-preventing-sids/
Media coverage of State of Origin IV will assist us in raising the profile of this unique annual event and help raise critical funds to support River’s Gift’s mission of Stamping Out SIDS! The footy is great to watch as well and spectators are welcomed with open arms! The day promises to be full of fun and activity for all involved.
