Education Resource Hub

At River’s Gift, we believe safe sleep education should be accessible to everyone. There are no secrets in safe sleep – every family, educator and caregiver deserves access to trusted, evidence-based information that helps keep babies safe.

Our Education Resource Hub has been created to make sharing safe sleep conversations easier. Here you’ll find downloadable posters, social media tiles, newsletter content, family resources, classroom activities and more – all designed to support education within early learning settings and the wider community.

These resources are free to download, share and display. Whether you’re a childcare centre, health professional, educator, community organisation or parent, we encourage you to use them far and wide to help raise awareness and start important conversations.

The Hope Collective is River’s Gift’s early learning partnership program, supporting childcare centres to gently embed safe sleep education into everyday learning and family engagement. Centres who join the Hope Collective receive additional support, physical resources, guided monthly content and recognition for helping share life-saving safe sleep messages within their communities. If you would like to find out more about joining the Hope Collective, please email crodriguez@riversgift.org

Together, we can help ensure more babies sleep safely – and more families find hope.

Resource Usage

These resources have been created by River’s Gift to support safe sleep education within our communities. We warmly encourage you to download, print and share these materials widely.

Childcare and community organisations are welcome to add their own logo within the designated co-branding space provided on selected resources. We ask that River’s Gift branding and safe sleep messaging remain visible and unchanged to ensure information stays accurate, evidence-based and consistent for families.

If you would like customised resources for your organisation or centre, please contact us – we’d love to work with you.

Dress baby for the room temperature

Did you know? Dressing babies for the room temperature can help reduce the risk of overheating during sleep.

Back to Sleep – Every Sleep

Back to sleep. Every sleep.

Always place your baby on their back for every sleep, from birth. Sleeping babies on their back helps keep their airway open and is one of the most important ways to reduce the risk of SIDS.

Let’s help every baby sleep safely. 💙

Overheating Increases SIDS Risk

Did you know? Overheating during sleep is a known risk factor for SIDS.

Dress your baby for the room temperature rather than the season, and avoid hats, beanies, doonas, quilts or heavy blankets during sleep. Your baby should feel warm, not hot.

Room Share

Close by. Safer.

Evidence shows babies are safest when they sleep in the same room as a parent or carer for at least the first six months of life—but in their own safe sleep space, such as a cot or bassinet.

Room share. Not bed share. 💙

Smoke Free is Life Saving

A smoke-free environment is one of the most important ways to help protect babies.

Exposure to cigarette smoke before and after birth significantly increases the risk of SIDS. Keeping your home, car and your baby’s environment smoke free gives them the healthiest and safest start in life.

Every baby deserves clean air. 💙
