Together, let’s create a wave of blue across Australia.
Every year, River’s Gift invites businesses, schools, childcare centres, sporting clubs and communities to Shine Blue throughout November in support of babies and families affected by Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
Choose a day, a week or the entire month to wear blue, wear a Heart on the Hand tattoo, raise awareness and help fund vital SIDS research and infant safe sleep education.
How Will You Shine Blue?

Become a Shine Blue Star – $1,100 Show your staff, customers and community that your business supports a future without SIDS. For $1,100, your business will receive campaign recognition and a Shine Blue merchandise pack to help your team get involved. |
You don’t need to organise an event to make a difference. Every donation helps River’s Gift fund vital SIDS research and deliver trusted infant safe sleep education. |
Wear your Heart on your Hand this November and help start important conversations about SIDS and infant safe sleep. Temporary tattoos are $2 each and are available for businesses, schools, childcare centres, sporting clubs, families and individuals. |
Ways to Shine Blue this November:
Businesses can choose a day that suits them – become Shine Blue Stars, wear blue, wear a Heart on the Hand tattoo, decorate your workplace, host a morning tea or fundraising event, and encourage staff to get involved.
Schools can hold a casual dress day, sausage sizzle, casual dress “blue” day, organise fundraising activities and help students learn about the importance of safe sleep.
Childcare centres can choose any day throughout November to Shine Blue by wearing blue, with children proudly wearing their Heart on the Hand tattoos, sharing safe sleep information with families, and hosting fundraising activities.
Sporting clubs can dedicate a Shine Blue Round, encouraging players, officials and supporters to wear blue, display the Heart on the Hand tattoo and raise funds for River’s Gift.
Families and community groups can wear blue, make a donation, share their support on social media and encourage friends, family and colleagues to get involved.

Why November?
November is a deeply significant month for River’s Gift.
On 7 November, we remember River Waddell, the little boy whose life inspired the creation of River’s Gift and a mission to create a future without SIDS.
Throughout November, we invite communities across Australia to honour River’s legacy by helping protect future generations through research, education and hope.
Together, we can make every act of kindness, every conversation and every dollar raised count.
